Two kinds of authorization can be granted:

1) Research Authorization

This kind of research authorization cencerns the access to various higher education and research establishments in order to carry out research works, to accede to informations and documents or to establish contacts with colleagues within the university.

In this framework, they who are interested, should present a demand to the president of the university or the head of the establishment concerned.

It goes without saying that the delivered authorization must respect, in particular, the internal regulation of the concerned institution.

2) Authorization for research on the field

This kind of authorization concerns all types of research carried out on the field through one or many governorates of the national territory. It can be granted for tunisian as well as foreign teachers-researchers and researchers.

In this framework, a file should, under strict obligation,  be constituted and sent to the Ministry of Higher Education (General Direction for scientific and technological research) at least 4 months before the date at which the applicant intends to begin his (her) research works.

This file must comprise:

- a written demand in which must be detailed the object, the nature and the problematic of the research works, specifying the concerned governorate(s) and indicating the dates and the duration(s) of the stay(s);

- a legible photocopy of the identity card (for Tunisians) and the two first pages of the passport (for foreigners);

- an identification sheet as complete as possible;

- a curriculum vitae;

- a registration certificate in thesis or Ph.D. or in research initiation "memoire";

- a backing letter from the institution to which belongs the interested person;

- details about where and how the applicant can be contacted;

- any other information in relation with the demand.

Are examined only the personal demands concerning the scientific research works undertaken:

- either by confirmed  researchers or teachers-researchers with written proof;

- or by students in the framework of thesis, Ph.D. or scientific research initiation "memoire".

Once the demand is accepted, the General Direction of scientific and technological research informs the applicant. The authorization is then given directly to the applicant who must bring with him a one-dinar-fiscal stamp.

If the applicant obtains a research authorization on the field, he'll commit himself, once the research works are over, to give a copy of the report or "memoire"relating to the research undertaken in the framework of the mentioned authorization.

Important: to ensure the scientific follow-up, it's desirable to establish, beforehand, links with one or many tunisian researchers in the concerned field and to notify it in the file with written proof.
